Determination of Fenthion and Its Oxygen Analogs Residues in Cowpea Using QuEChERS Combined with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry

Abstract: Objective: The paper aims to establish a method for determining the residues of fenthion, fenthion sulfone,and fenthion sulfoxide in commercially available cowpeas using QuEChERS combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Method: The samples were extracted with acetonitrile, purified by d-SPE purification tubes, measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and quantified by internal standard method. Result: Fenthion and its oxygen analogues have a good linear relationship within the concentration range of 2~500ngmL-1 with correlation coefficients greater than 0.999.The recovery rate of spiked concentrations of 10, 50,and 60μgkg-1 in blank samples is 96.27% to 108.57% , with a relative standard deviation of 0.91% to 1.58% . Conclusion: This method is accurate, effcient,safe,and practical for the determinationoftotalresidues offenthion and its oxygenanalogs in cowpeas.
