Genetic diversity analysis of phenotypic traits in 40 Capsicum annuum L. germplasmresources

Abstract:To enhance theutilizationof thecollected Capsicum annuumL.germplasmresources and improve breeding efficiency,geneticdiversityanalysis,clusteranalsis,correlationanalysis,andprincipalcomponentanalysiswrecaed out n this study with23 phenotypic traits of40 stable inbredlines.Theresultsshowed thatthe diversity indices of the 23 phenotypictraitsvariedfromOto1.997,ofwhichthehighestdiversityindex wasplant width,andthecoeficientofariation of single fruit mass was the largest among the quantitative traits ( 52.92% ,which indicated that thephenotypic traits of the 40C? annumL.germplasmresources had rich genetic diversity.Theresults ofcluster analysis showed that the 40 C.anmum L.germplasmresources could cluster into two taxa at geneticdistance 20,andthe germplasmresources of taxonIwere mostlycompactplants,with elongatedandthin-skinned fruitsandrelativelylarge fruit shapeindex,which could provide the theoretical basis forthe breeding practiceofthe subsequent diferentfruit shapesand plant shapes.The resultsofcorrelationanalysis showed thatthecorelationcoefficientsof74pairs oftraits weresignificantorextremely significant,indicating that mostofthephenotypictraits interacted witheach other.Theresults ofthe principalcompoent analysis showed that the cumulative contribution rate of the first six principal components was as high as 77.493% ,which couldreflectthe basiccharacteristicsofthephenotypic traits,the twelvephenotypic traitsas fruit transverse diameter, fruit shapeindex,andfruitcro-sectionshapecouldbeusedasimportantindexesforevaluatingthegeneticdiversityof C. annuum L.'s phenotypes and genetic improvement of C annuum L. variety. This study provides an important theoretical reference basis for the utilization and innovation of C annuumL.germplasm resources and variety selection.
