A Descriptive Catalogue of the Dunhuang Documents in Shaanxi Normal University Library

Abstract：The libraryatShaanxiNormal Universityhas collectedfourDunhuangdocuments，includingalinenpainting with atextonthebackandthree fragmentalmanuscriptsrespectivelyentitledTheGoldenLightSutra，translatedbyamonknamed Baogui;theSuvarnaprabhasa-utamaraja-sutra，translatedbyYijing;andTheSutraofImmeasurableandGreat Mercy.Among theseitems，thelinenpaintingishighlyuniqueinthestyleofitscomposition：onthefrontsideisanimageofastandingAvalokitesvara，whilethebacksideismountedwithtwofragmentalmanuscriptsoftheSuvaraprabasa-utamarja-sutra.Allfour documents werepurchased forthelibrarybyProfessorHuangYongnianin1979andhavenotbeenmadepublicuntilnow.With thepublicationofthispaper，theauthorshopetocataloguetheseitemsamongthegreatercolectionofChiesehistoricaldocuments and bring them to the attention of the scholarly community.
