Exploring the Pathways of Integrating Short Videos into Ideological

and Political Education in Colleges and Universities

Abstract：Short videos have emerged as a major mode of content dissemination on the internet and have become an important vehicle for ideological and political education （IPE） in higher education.Their rise has broken the traditional constraints of time and space in IPE，enhanced its appeal and emotional resonance，and responded to the interactive needs of dual-subject participation （teachers and students）.However，short videos also present challenges by weakening the guiding function of IPE，fragmenting its holistic expression，and creating cognitive traps such as “information cocoons.”To address the dual impacts of short videos on IPE in colleges and universities，this paper proposes an innovative strategic approach based on “one core theme，three guiding principles，six dimensions of synergy，and six key areas of focus.” This framework aims to empower IPE through short video integration and improve its overall effectiveness in nurturing values and political consciousness among students.
