Establishment of a Method for the Determination of Trihalomethanes by Headspace-Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry

Abstract: Objective: To establish a method for the determination of trihalomethanes in drinking water by headspace injection-gas chromatography mass spectrometry,to understand the status of drinking water disinfection by-products in Tianjin,and to provide technical support for the implementation of national drinking water projects. Method: 0.3g of ascorbic acid was added to the brown grinding glass botte during sample collection, and capped and sealed after sampling.A 10.0mL water sample was accuratelypipetted into a 20mL headspace vial, automatically filed with headspace,and quantified using a TG-5SILMS capillary column in selective ion monitoring mode. Result: The linear relationship between the target substances was good at 0~50.0μg?L-1 ,the detection limit of the method was 0.0075~0.0330μg?L-1 , the limits of quantification was 0.025 0~0.110 1μg?L-1 , the average recovery rate was 93.5%~106.0% ,and the relative standard deviation of precision experiment was 2.14%~2.62% Conclusion: The detection processofthis method issimple,thesensitivityis high,therecoveryrate is high,and the precisionis good, which can provide a new idea for the determination of trihalomethanes.
