Physical Characteristicsof Chang9Tight Oil Storage Sandstone in WesternWuqi Area,OrdosBasin

Abstract: [Purposes] Physical properties are important factors affecting the occurrence and seepage characteristics of crude oil in reservoir sandstone.To efficiently explore the potential of Chang9 tight sandstone oil,it is essential to clarifythephysical characteristics and its main control factors,so as to provide guidance for the exploration and development of tight sandstone oil in this region.[Methods] This study employed helium porosity measurement, microscopic observation, mercury intrusion porosimetry and logging data to analyze the petrology,physical properties and pore structure characteristics of Chang9 tight oil reservoir sandstone in western Wuqi area.Furthermore,it discusses the influence of diagenesis,sedimentary environment, mineral composition and pore structure on the physical properties of tight oil reservoir sandstone.[Findings]The results show thatthe Chang9 tight oil reservoir sandstone in the western Wuqi area is mainly feldspathic sandstone,followed by lithic feldspathic sandstone,and mostly pore-cemented. The main oil storage space is intergranular pores,and the pore structure is mainly small pores with fine throats, which has the overall characteristics of low porosity and ultra-low permeability.[Conclusions] Sedimentation and diagenesis are the fundamental factors leading to the low porosity and ultra-low permeability of Chang9 tight oil reservoir sandstone in the western Wuqi area. The mineral composition and pore structure are the media through which sedimentation and diagenesis affect the physical properties.
