Application of Magnesium-Loaded Modified Chitosan in Nitrogen and PhosphorusWastewater Treatment

Abstract： [Purposes] Magnesium-loaded modified chitosan （Mg-CS）was prepared by magnesium ion coordination modification using chitosanas raw material，and its application performance in nitrogen and phosphorus wastewater treatment was investigated.[Methods]FT-IR，XRD，SEM，XPSandother methods were used to characterize the materials，and the effects of pH value，contact time，temperature and other factors on the adsorption of phosphate and ammonium ions were analyzed.[Findings] The results showed that under optimal conditions，the maximum adsorption capacities of Mg-CS for phosphate and ammonium ions reached 68.7 mg/g （pH=4.5） and 42.3 mg/g （pH=7.5）， respectively.Allefluent indicators after treatment met the Class A discharge standards.[Conclusions] This material shows promising application prospects for the treatment of nitrogen and phosphorus wastewater.
