Abstract: Since the reform and opening up,Chinese rural films have undertaken the task of documenting contemporary socialrealitiesbycapturingthedynamictransformations ofruralsocietythroughthevisualconstructionof urban-rurallandscapesandculturalreflection.Homecoming,TheStoryofQiuJuandReturntoDustarerepresentative works ofChineseruralflms during this period.These threeflms present the developmentandchanges inthecreative conceptsof Chinese rural films in termsofnarrative subject images,the expression of urban andrural images,and realistic creative techniques,reflecting the multidimensionalrealitiesandunderlying tensions ofrural society in the process of Chinese modernization.
