Abstract:Pot experiments were conducted with diferent water management practices combined with silicon application to investigate theeffects of water managementcombined with siliconapplicationonarsenic (As)accumulation inriceand the bioavailabilityofAsinpaddysoil.TheresultsshowedthattheAscontentinbrownriceunderalternatingdryingandwettig(IF) and alternating drying and weting combined with silicon application (IF+Si) )decreased by 54.6% (P<0.05) )and 54.5% (P<0.05) , respectively,compared withconventional water management (CK)andconventional watermanagementcombined with silicon application ( CK+Si) . Compared with CK,IF increased the content of available silicon and reduced the content of available As in soil. ThesilicoaplcationincreasedthepHandavailablesiliconcontentbutdecreasedthecontentofavailableAs insoil.Comparedwith CK,IFreducedthecontentofexchangeableAs (Exc-As),carbonate-boundAs (Carb-As),andiro-manganeseoxide-boundAs FeMnOx-As)insoil.Under thesame water management,thecontentofExc-As and Carb-Asdecreased aftersiliconaplication.The As contentinricestemsandleavesandthecontentofweakacidextractableAs (Acid-As)andCarb-Asinsoildirectlyafectedthe As uptake bybrowice.Soil pHandExc-AscontentdiretlyafectedtheabsoptionofAsbyricerots.Alteatingdryingandweting combined with silicon application can effectively reduce the uptake ofAs by brown rice in production.
