Research on the Coupling Coordination Development Between New Urbanization and Eco-environment in Henan Province

Abstract： [Purposes] To analyze the current status，spatio-temporal evolution characteristics，and influencing factors of the coupling coordination between new urbanization and eco-environment in Henan Province，providing a reference for ecological protection and high-qualitydevelopment in the Henan section of the middle and lower reaches of the Yelow River.[Methods] Using entropy weight method，coupling coordination degree （CCD） model，and grey relational analysis （GRA），this study analyzes CCDand its spatio-temporal diferences among 18 cities in Henan Province from 2016 to 2021.[Findings]From 2016 to 2021，thelevelof new urbanizationand eco-environment in Henan Province'scities improved significantly，theCCD index generally exhibited an upward trend，evolving from "barely coordinated"to "primarilycoordinated".Spatially，the coupling coordination development was uneven across cities.In 2O21， Zhengzhou had the highest CCD，reaching "high-qualitycoordination" followed byLuoyang at "good coordination"and Nanyang and Xuchang at "intermediatecoordination".Mostof theother citiesremainedatthe "primarycoordination"level，indicating significantpotential for further development.The key factors influencing the CCD index，ranked by their impact in descending order，were the employment shareofthe secondary and tertiary industries，urbanization rate，the GDP share of the secondary and tertiary industries，per capita disposable income of urban households，and the vegetation coverage rate in the built-up areas.[Conclusions]The coupling coordination development between new urbanizationand eco-environment has significantly improved in Henan Province.However，spatial imbalances persist.Therefore，it is necessary to promote thecoordinated development from large cities to small towns.
