Pesticide residues and dietary risk assessment in winter jujubes under three cultivation modes

Abstract:To assess the pesticide residues and dietary risks in winter jujubes cultivated under open-field conditions, in greenhouses,and with baging treatment,samples werecollected from the main winter jujube-producing areas inHebei provinceand tested for28 types of pesticide residues.Theresults showed thatthe detectionrate of pesticides in winter jujubes was as highas 80% ,with the most frequently detected pesticides being carbendazim,pyraclostrobin, difenoconazole,imidacloprid,tebuconazole,thiamethoxam,lambda-cyhalothrin and cypermethrin. The residue levels of these eight pesticides in winter jujubes under differentcultivationmodes,fromhighesttolowest,wereas follows:open-fieldcultivation > greenhouse cultivation > bagging treatment. The residues of carbendazim,pyraclostrobin,difenoconazole,tebuconazole,thiamethoxam,lambda-cyhalothrinandcypermethrin inopen-field winter jujubes were significantly higherthan thoseinbaggedwinter jujubes ( P <0.05).Lambda-cyhalothrinand cypermethrin were not detected in bagged winter jujubes.The chronicdietary risk ( %ADI )of pesticides in winter jujubes ranged from 0.002% to 1.190% ,and the acute dietary risk( %ARfD )ranged from 0.022% to 14.800% ,indicating an overall low risk.Based on the estimated maximum residue limit ( eMRL )values, thisstudyproposedrecommended maximumresidue limit(RMRL)values forchlorpyrifos,carbendazim,thiophanate-methyl,difenoconazole,lambda-cyhalothrin,bifenthrin,cypermethrin,and tebuconazoleandrecommendedrevising the maximum residue limit (MRL)for carbendazim in fresh winter jujubes to 2mg/kg
