The article focuses on the representative buildings of Shanghai Jiaotong University and East China University of Political Science and Law in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Through the appreciation of architectural decoration art and the characteristics of architectural development， it conducts research on the typicality and the peculiarities of college building decoration during this period， and explores the cultural conflicts between Chinese and Western architects. The trade-off and game of architectural design forms in the integration are expected to inspire the exploration of the value of architectural decoration in universities and the development path of campus architectural decoration in the new era.
