Study on the influence of prefabricated defect size on the internal morphology of debonding defects

Abstract:Carbon-fiber-reinforced bismaleimideresincompositelaminates withpre-fabricateddefectswere successfuly prepared.Theadhesive filmof thesameresin systemwasutilized to prepareadhesive specimenswith debonding defects throughtheadhesiveco-curing process.Ultrasonic C-scan technologywasused for non-destructive testing to confirm thelocationandsizeofdefects.Meanwhile,theinfluenceofthediameteranddepthof prefabricateddefectsontheinternal morphology of debonding defects was studied usingoptical microscopyand metalographic microscopy.Theresultsshowed thattheinternal morphologyofdefectscanbeclassified intothree types:theresin-filed typein whichtheadhesivefilm resinbasicallyfillsteinteriorofthedefectscompletely;thegas-flledtypeinwhichtheahesivefilmresinfillstheinteriorofthedefects,butthereisalargebubbleinside;andtheoutwarddifusiontypeinwhichtheadhesivefilmresinfilsthe interiorof the defects well,yet there area large number of voids distributed within it.
