Three-dimensional Transformation of Chinese Novel Dialects from the Perspective of Eco-translatology

Take Little Soldier Chang Ka-tse as an Example

Abstract： The classic novel Litle Soldier Zhang Ga vividly shows the rich and diversified characteristics of Hebei regional culture，and a large number of local dialects are used in the work. As a unique form of language expression， dialect is always a difficulty in translation. Based on the perspective ofEco-translatology，this paper uses three-dimensional transformation theory to study the translation of Hebei dialect in Litle Soldier Chang Ka-tse，the English version of the novel，and finds that Eco-translatology has a strong interpretive power for dialect translation. In the language dimension，various translation methods such as voice conversion and sentence patterm adjustment are adopted to preserve the phonetic and lexical characteristics of Hebei dialect， so as to help the target language readers to truly feel the unique language style and charm of the original text. In the cultural dimension，by reproducing the connotation of dialects and emphasizing the historical background， the unique elements of Hebei regional culture are converted into cultural symbols that are easy for the target language readers to understand，so as to realize the effective transmision of cultural information. In the communicative dimension， proper retention of character tone and adjustment of story context when dealing with character dialogue and emotional expresson ensure that the translation achieves similar communicative effect with the original text. From this，it is concluded that Little Soldier Chang Ka-tse，the English version of the novel Litle Soldier Zhang Ga adapts to the ecological environment of the target language through adaptive conversion of three dimensions： language，culture and communication， thereby achieving an“ ecological balance"between the original text and the translation.
