Optimisation of National VI Vehicle Diesel Engine Performance at High Altitude

Abstract:This study investigates the performance differences of diesel engines at 0m and 3000m altitudes through intake/exhaust altitude simulation,and optimizes engine power performance and pollutant emissions at 3 000m altitude.The results show that compared with plain conditions,at 3000m altitude:the engine power decreases by approximately 0%~40.22% ,fuel consumption increases by 1%~10% ,smoke opacity(FSN)surgesbyup to 110% ,and NOx emissions at 1000~1200r/min risebyabout 3%~13% .Afteroptimization at 3 000m altitude:the rated speed torque ( 2200r/min )increasesby 3.88% (with 0.18% fuel consumption reduction),maximum torque speed( 1100r/min )torque improves by 2.67% (with 0.6% fuel consumption reduction),and idle speed torque ( 800r/min ) increases by 38.45% (with 1.42% fuel consumption reduction and 4.09% smoke opacity reduction).
