Abstract: The continuous,real-timeand accurate measurement of wheel-rail contact force is an important means to realize the monitoring and evaluation of vehicle running safety,stability and comfort. In this paper, basedon the finite element method,the whel-rail contact modelisestablished,and the mathematical relationship between the rim strain and the wheel-rail contact force is obtained. Based on the strain gauge Wheatstone bridge and Bluetooth wireless communication technology, a wireless telemetry system for wheelrail force is designedand developed.The system includes the hardware and software ofthe lowercomputerand the data acquisition and analysis software of the upper computer. The feasibility and accuracy of the telemetry system are verified by the whel-rail force measurement of the wheel hub strain measurement and the collision sled rim strain measurement. Compared with the commonly used force measuring whelset method, it does not need to process a special wheelset,and can realize the in-situ measurement of whee-rail force, which has the advantages of low cost and convenient implementation.
