Study on the Hypoglycemic Effect of Gnaphalium on Type 2 Diabetic Mice

【Abstract】Objective:To explore the hypoglycemic efect of aqueous extract (TQ)of Gnaphaliumon type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). Methods:After 40KM male mice were adaptively raised for one week,1O were randomly selectedas thecontrol group.Theremaining mice wereraised with high sugarandhigh fatcombinedwith tail vein injection of streptozotocin (STZ)at 40mg/kg to establish the T2DM mouse model. The mice with successful modeling were randomly divided into a model group,a positive group and an experimental group.The experimental group was given the aqueous extract of Gnaphalium at 8g/kg ,the positive group was given metformin at 0.03g/kg ,and the control groupandthe model were given thesame volume of distilled water.After continuous intragastric administration for 4 weeks,the random blood glucose,triglycerides and total cholesterol ofthe mice in each group weredetected.The changes in the body weight,food intakeand water intake of the mice were recorded.Results:Compared with that of the normal group,the levelsof bloodglucose,triglyceridesand total cholesterol in the model group were significantly increased ( P<0.01 ),the body weight was significantly decreased ( P<0.01 ),and the food intake and water intake increased.Compared with theof the model group,the levelsof blood glucose and triglycerides in the experimental group were significantly decreased ( P<0.05 , P<0.01 ),the weight increased,and the food intake and water intake decreased. Conclusion: This study found that Gnaphaliumcan reduce the blood glucose and triglyceride levels of type 2 diabetic mice and improve the symptoms of diabetes.
