Research on Functional Design of Prehistoric Jade Patterns in Wanjiang Valley ZHU Tiejun，HUANG Xiaoge

Abstract：Asthe key componentof thecultural matrix ofthe lowerreaches of theYangtzeRiver，Wanjiang Valleyis famous for its prehistoric jadeculture，and its decorativeart is unique in the jadecultureof China.The exquisite prehistoric jade patterns in the Wanjiang Valley，bearing profoundcultural accumulation，notonly witness theoutstanding technologicalachievements，butalsoreflect thereligiousconcepts，socialorganizationandcultural identity ofthe societyatthat time.By focusing on the characteristics of prehistoric jade patterns in the Wanjiang RiverBasinand conducting detailed typological analysis，aswellas functional designand symbolicinterpretation of them，thispaperaims toreveal themulti-dimensionalfunctionsof patternsindecorativeaesthetics，ecological meanings，religious symbolsandspiritual symbols，and furtherdeconstructtheircultural significanceand social value，soas tohighlighttheendlesscharmof theprehistoriccivilizationintheregion，thus providingusefulreference coordinates forunderstanding theevolutionand propagation path of jade culture inthe lower reaches of the Yangtze River in prehistoric China.
