Chinese version of Educational Climate Inventory and its reliability and validity test

Abstract  Objective：To translate the Educational Climate Inventory（ECI） into Chinese， and to test its reliability and validity.Methods：The scale was translated according to the Brislin translation model，and the Chinese version of ECI was formed after cultural adaptation through expert consultation.A total of 732 nursing students from 5 undergraduate universities in Hubei province were investigated to test the reliability and validity of the scale.Results：The Chinese version of ECI included 3 dimensions and 18 items.The item?level content validity index（I?CVI） of the Chinese version of ECI ranged from 0.89 to 1.00，and the average scale?content validity index（S?CVI/Ave） was 0.99.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 3 common factors，and the cumulative contribution rate of variance was 58.00%.The results of confirmatory factor analysis show that the three?factor model was well?fitted.The Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.88.The split?half reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.84.Conclusions：The Chinese version of ECI had good reliability and validity，which could be used to evaluate the perceptions of the educational climate of undergraduate nursing students.
