The University of Bath in the UK conducted a global study, surveying 10,000 young people aged 16—25 across 10 countries for the study.
Caroline Hickman, a co-lead author of the study, told NPR News that many young people have pointed out that climate change has significantly affected their daily lives. They feel its effects on their eating, drinking, schooling, working and even leisure activities. For example, being anxious about climate change, some people choose to recycle or eat less meat.
Tom Burke from the think tank e3g told BBC News that it is reasonable for young people to be anxious about climate change because they are not only reading about it in the media but also witnessing its effects firsthand. In recent years, extreme weather events and natural disasters such as wildfires, droughts and floods have become more frequent. The issue of rising sea levels directly threatens some coastal cities.
