Abstract Objective: To investigate the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (a-tDCS)combined with squat training on lower limb strength and anaerobic power in healthy adults. Methods: Thirty adults with extensive resistance training experience were selected to undergo two interventions randomly. composite training group (a-tDCS + resistance training, n=15 ) and single resistance training group ( n =15). Both groupsperformed back barbellsquat training twice a week for 5 weeks. The combined training group received 2O-minutes a-tDCS intervention (current: 2mA)before each squat training session.A two-factor repeated-measures analysis of variance (interventionmode × test time) was used to compare the differences in squat1 repetition maximum (1 RM) and lower extremity anaerobic work metrics, including peak power (PP),average power (AP),and power

decline (PD),before andafter interventions. Results: 1)After the 5-week training intervention,the1RMperformance of both groupswas significantly improved compared with the pre-test (p<0.05) ,and the improvementof in1RM squat performance in the composite training group was significantly better than that of the single training group (p<0.05) ; 2) no differences of PP,AP,F(xiàn)I between the pre and post-tests of the two groups were found to reach the level of significance (p>0.05) .Conclusions: a-tDCS combined with resistance training is more effective in enhancing lowerlimb muscle strength than resistance training aloneanda-tDCS can be used as an auxiliary training method to eficiently improve lower limb maximal strength in healthy adults.
