As one of the intangible cultural heritages， Wuhu Iron Painting is a unique traditional handicraft in Wuhu City， Anhui Province. In the new pathwayto epoch aesthetics and media communica tion， Wuhu Iron Pain ting is confronted with such acute problems as poor innovation， skill inheritance， weak market competition and cultural degradation.

With investigation and field survey as the main research methods， from the perspective of traditional craft aesthetics for “wabi-sabi”， visual texture， raw materials and scientific and technological innovation pathway research， this article expounds on the realization of effective technological innovation in Wuhu Iron Painting， there by forging modern handicraft works which not only echo with the needs of modern aesthetic concept， but also radiates the great charm of traditional crafts.
